Speedo LZR Racer

I read a few weeks ago about the Speedo LZR Racer swimsuit, a revolutionary and most controversial suit designed and proven to make world swimmers beat world records like nobody's business.

A whole slew of people are making a fuss on the matter:
  1. Speedo-sponsored swimmers are lording it over the rest.
  2. Non-Speedo-sponsored swimmers are crying and/or wanting to break their contracts in order to wear Speedo.
  3. Other swimwear companies are claiming illegal shit is going on with the LZR and that they're breaking the laws of the governing body of swimming.

Some of the pissed-off people are trying to get the suit banned from the Beijing Olympics 2008. I think this is truly ridiculous. Some people worked their asses off to produce a product that works damn well, and their reward is to be punished for it? Friggin' stupid cows. Shouldn't they ask themselves "Why didn't I think of that?" and then bash their heads with a sledgehammar? Noooooo... Let's try to get the competition disqualified instead. *rolls eyes*

Then there are the non-Speedo-sponsored swimmers. Look, you made the choice to go with XYZ brand right? Honour the contract, then! If the contract has an exit clause which says you have to pay them back a gazillion bucks, good for you. Pay the money and get the damn Speedo. If the contract doesn't have an exit clause, too bad for you then. Who asked you to be stupid?

As for the non-Speedo companies e.g. adidas, Asics, Mizuno, tell your PR people to stop yapping and start helping to sew a suit to rival the LZR Racer. Maybe you can call it the "Better Than LZR" or the "LZR-Catcher-Upper."

Check out today's MSN article on the whole shebang.
